THE PROCESS
The work begins with the collection of reclaimed textiles and tailoring remnants, gathered for their varied colors, textures and material histories. From thousands of fragments, selected fabrics are prepared by pressing and manually cutting them into shapes that will later form part of the composition. These elements are organized by color and arranged in provisional layouts to study their visual relationships before being permanently adhered to a prepared canvas. The surface is further developed through use of embroidery and the occasional addition of sequins or reflective elements that introduce subtle glints of light. In some instances, fabrics are dyed to bring different fragments into visual harmony. Through this process of selection, arrangement and refinement, the final composition emerges as a carefully constructed interplay of color, texture and layered material.
